Genmab has reached the sixth milestone in its collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline for ofatumumab (HuMax-CD20), as the first patient received treatment in the Phase I study of ofatumumab in relapsed/refractory follicular non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and chronic lymphocytic leukemia in Japan. The milestone payment was approximately $5.6 million. Ofatumumab is an investigational, new generation, human MAb that targets a distinct membrane proximal, small loop epitope of the CD20 molecule on the surface of B-cells. Ofatumumab is being developed to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia, follicular non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, rheumatoid arthritis and relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis.
